#SportsGoals: Play To Win
We sat down to chat with Drishti Mehta, co-founder, Born To Play. She ventured into the arena of sports with the hope to promote it as a viable career option and a healthy lifestyle. Over to Drishti to share her vision with us.
“We can’t keep sending a contingent of 121 athletes and bring back only 2 medals. We need to take sports seriously as well. At Born To Play, we keep taking workshops in schools telling students and parents about how sports is important and how it can be turned into a profession. Because it is something that really needs to be done. With Born To Play, I wish to increase participation and inclination towards sports, I want to enlighten people about the future prospects in sports. We aim to create a generation who doesn’t just run after books but understands how sports is important and how they can turn their interest into a career or a path to higher education. We organize professionally managed sports events to give them an experience they’ve never had before, also I have always been one of the girls who always went with the flow. I did everything that I loved. I have danced, I have played basketball, I have been into drama ocs, I have written a research paper, worked with a lot of NGOs and social enterprises. In short, I have always done whatever I have felt like. I have enjoyed whatever came my way and made sure I nailed that. Because, I was already into a good job before Born To Play, so the reaction of my family when I decided to leave my job and start of my own, was a small hurdle. Although, it did not take a lot of convincing as my family too is into business. In my free time, I sit on my couch in my PJs and watch Romedy Now with a tub of ice-cream in my hand. Also, I love street food!
I’m very sure of that, the women of today are gonna rule the tomorrow.”
