Meet the SHEROES - Jainee Gandhi
Most women are conscious about their overall appearance and image and few make it a career! Improving or enhancing your image can actually boost your morale and maybe even give you that added social kick. This is what our SHERO – Jainee Gandhi actually does!
Let’s hear her story and some inputs about the Image Consulting Business.
How did you enter the field of Image Consulting?
People always say my journey is very philosophical. I was in the US in 2007 when I saw an Image Consulting firm in New York and wondered what they actually did. Somewhere the imagination I built within me made me feel attracted to it and inspired me to read and research about it… and the more I understood its power, the more it felt right to turn into a career.
So when I came back, I started the business under a different name in 2007... but I had to shut it down within 6 months. Maybe Mumbai was not ready and neither was I. I then did a certified course on Image consulting and restarted my firm in 2011.
That’s the story of how I entered this field… in short, it just felt right!
How much of a scope does this field have in India?
India is a nascent market… so it has tremendous scope and equal challenges.
Image consulting is a 40 year old industry in western countries, and is just 3 years old in India. Individuals are gradually realising how important it is to invest in themselves.
Corporates want to groom their employees in all aspects of Appearance, Behaviour & Communication. Indians have been so technically trained, social skills have never been important so far but now with everything going global and the world becoming small, it’s imperative for everyone to adapt to this change.
But then there are challenges as well of a market not fully developed. Creating awareness, standardizing offerings, ensuring quality is maintained across everyone's experiences - are all key for ensuring that the potential is realised.
What should a woman entrepreneur keep in Mind to succeed in her venture?
Passion, Patience & Networking. That’s what kept me going and growing.
What are the top 3 common mistakes women make in their Profession Journey.
Personally I feel women are not very money conscious - we are emotional fools, so we need to ensure we do not lose sight of the money aspect of business.
We are also try to do too many things at the same time, so delegate as much as possible (be it at home or work).
I know my son will not remember the number of hours I spend with him - but he will remember the fun times I have with him. So spend quality time with loved ones and we should stop feeling guilty about the quantity.
Any tips for fellow SHEROES?
Whether you are a stay at home wife, professional or entrepreneur - don’t take things too seriously (unless you are a doctor ;-). What you think will happen, so think positive and feel positive.
Where are you from and where are you / your business currently based?
I am from Mumbai. My business is currently based out of Mumbai & Ahmedabad but my clients are quite spread out and I travel quite a lot (Kochi, Delhi, and Hyderabad, etc… and even to Dubai).
