World’s Heaviest Woman Eman Ahmed Loses 50 Kg in 12 Days
Eman Ahmed, the world's heaviest woman who is undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Saifee Hospital, has already lost 50 kg thanks to a strict diet regime.
The 37-year-old hadn't stepped out of her flat in Alexanadria, Egypt for 25 years and was confined to her bed. Now, just 12 days after she was admitted to the hospital, Eman is able to grip something and hold herself up, a report in The Indian Express said.
Dr Swati Sanghvi, head of the advanced physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation department at Saifee Hospital. said:
Currently, she is on a strict diet of 1,200 calorie per day and is undergoing 90-minute physiotherapy sessions. Her first surgery is less than two weeks away.
Doctors want to bring Eman's weight down to 200 kg in 2017 itself. Eman, who couldn't sleep for more than 3 hours previously, is now managing a full eight-hour sleep cycle.
Accompanied by her sister Shaimaa, Eman arrived in Mumbai early in February and was put under the care of bariatric surgeon Muffazal Lakdawala and his team at Saifee Hospital. She is being treated for obesity, hypothyroidism, diabetes, hypertension, kidney problems, fluid retention and sleep apnea.
