Virat Kohli’s Rs 110 Crore Deal With Puma Has Everyone Swooning
Indian skipper Virat Kohli seems to be on a never ending spree to break records. Although, this time it’s not his performance in the field that has everyone going gaga over it. In what is being termed as a first for an Indian sportsman, Virat Kohli has signed a Rs 110 crore deal with international sports lifestyle brand Puma.
Yes, Rs 110 crore! That’s eight zeroes after 11!
Earlier, the star cricketer had teased his fans with a five second video on Twitter, saying “watch out for something big”, which turned out to be his humongous deal with Puma.
Later, Kohli confirmed the association with a Tweet.
The contract spans over a period of eight years and Kohli’s earnings from the brand’s association would be in the form of royalties and fixed payments of Rs 12 crore per annum at least, reports Hindustan Times.
This deal places him as the first Indian to sign such an expensive endorsement deal in one go, surpassing the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni.
How? Let’s do the maths here. Both Tendulkar and Dhoni were part of the Rs 100-crore club through contracts with multiple brands, but this is a first for an Indian sportsman do it all in one go.
