Women's Bone health and How I started Taking Care of Mine
*This article is written by Swati Bhargava - Co-founder & CEO of Cashkaro.com about Women's Bone Health*
There’s a famous saying which goes as ‘If you don’t make time for health now, you will have to make time later for hospital visits.’ Isn’t that simply true? Often, women keep neglecting their health in the early stages. Only when they become aware of some serious problem, do they start taking their health and fitness seriously. On that note, Bone Health is not something that most women think about until it becomes an issue, which usually happens later in life. While men and women can both suffer from weakening of the bones, it is a particular issue for women, especially after they hit menopause.
You have to admit to the fact that there are no shortcuts to becoming fit and healthy. Fad diets are only a short term solution and don’t work in the long run. It’s only when you incorporate healthy habits in your lifestyle that you will begin to notice the positive changes in your mind as well as body. Changes are not just limited to eating pattern but also with regards to how you perform on a day to day basis.
When I graduated from the London School of Economics and was working with Goldman Sachs, life was a relentless cycle of work and partying. The stress was beginning to tell and I found myself having to cope with allergies. My mother came to the rescue by teaching me Yoga and Benefits of Pranayama – which includes giving us a Healthy Heart, Good Concentration, Relaxation and an Abundant Source of Prana/Energy. Not only did the allergies disappear, but I was coping well with my exceedingly busy life. The benefits were so obvious that I decided to never stop yoga. Twelve years later, when I began my business, along with husband Rohan Bhargava, I was glad I had never let go of the yoga routine. My belief in my exercise routine has only grown, since we got into our business. We’re never really ‘off’ whether it’s a weekend or not and it’s the exercise that really rejuvenates us. But perhaps the most interesting thing that I do is combine the exercise hour with visualization, imagining my life and day to be what I desire. This way I get the kind of day I want, not the kind of day that is forced upon me. Even a few minutes of what I calls “a visualization zone” helps my day pan out just wonderfully.
This is no rocket science, all it needs is disciplining your lifestyle to enjoy life better rather than suffer. So, whether it’s yoga or meditation or the treadmill, the underlying purpose is the same — to create positivity into your life and bring strength to your bones.
