The Wanderlust In Me!
This was right after my exams, the time when I was completely stressed. All I wanted was a break to distress myself. So I decided to take an impromptu trip with one my female friends. That summer we had trip to Rishikesh. With very little knowledge about the place, we reached there on a Tuesday afternoon.
We did not know where to go or where to stay. The moment we reached the first thing we did was talk to the local people. One thing why I love traveling is that you get to meet new people, talk to them and discover the place more deeply. Finally, after a while, we decided to stay in a camp. It looked like a decent camp area surrounded by trees with the Ganges in the front. We spent the evening sitting by the Ganges, talking to the people at the camp who arranged for a few activities which included river rafting and cliff jumping, for us the next day.
The next day I woke up with zeal because I was really excited for the activities. As soon as we reached the river rafting area, I was nervous yet elated. We sat inside the boat with 6 other people. They trained us to raft first and soon we were in the middle of the Ganges. As I was sitting inside the boat, I felt content. All the tiredness of past few weeks seemed to be going away. Our next activity was Cliff jumping. With my fear of height, it looked absolutely impossible for me to do this activity. But with a lot of encouragement from my friend, I gathered some courage and jumped from the cliff without thinking twice. As soon as I went deep inside the water there was a sense of fear inside me but at the same time, I felt relieved to have done it. It was something completely out of my comfort zone as I had never imagined myself doing something like this. One thing I learned while traveling was that fear is just an illusion and if you decide to do something there is nothing which can stop you from doing it.
As we were going back to the camp I replayed all the happenings of the day in my head. These were the memories which I will cherish for a lifetime. My wanderlust has taken me to many places but I would never forget this trip. The fact which made me happier was that we were just two female travelers, complete strangers in that new place yet we felt a part of that city.
From my experience, I would recommend all the females out there to go out and travel to different places either take a solo trip or take your girl-gang with you. There are so many new experiences waiting out there for you. So pack your bags and take that trip you have always wanted to take!
