There's a joke about the time Larry King interviewed Satan on his program. At one point during the interview, King asked Satan to describe the foulest deed he'd ever done. Satan refused to name one, pointing out that there had been so much destruction over the years, so many lives cut short, and so many wars and calamities that none stood out. But Larry King kept pestering. 'Surely, if you think hard enough, there must be one dastardly deed you are most proud of.' Satan thought for a moment, his eyes brightened, and he replied, 'Well, yes. I guess if I have to pick just one particularly evil thing I'm proudest of, it would be this: Several years ago, I invented credit cards! Get it.
Yes now that credit card joke is out of the way, let's share this piece of information we came across. So you have passed out of school and graduated. Got yourself a high-paying job, we ask you the one question for which you worked so hard all your childhood. What is your credit score. How good are you with your finances?
We are the credit card and EMI generation. Our lifestyle is about flaunting that latest gadget in the market or wearing the best of labels. We are not apologetic of it. It’s just the way things are now.
But there’s a downside to it. We, at many times lose track of our credit purchases unless notified to pay back. The trick is not to get heady with the power of this card. So how to keep track of your credit behaviour. By assessing your credit score.
What is a credit score?
A credit score is a numerical expression based on a level analysis of a person's credit files, to represent the creditworthiness of the person. Lenders use credit scores to determine who qualifies for a loan, at what interest rate, and what credit limits.
Now that you’re heading out for that party tonight, check your credit score before blindly asking the bartender to swipe your card.
