No Plans to Introduce New Rs 1,000 Notes, Says Shaktikanta Das
Economics Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday tweeted that the government is not planning to introduce new Rs 1,000 notes.
He also said that the problems of ATMs running out of cash is also being addressed.

An earlier Indian Express report on Tuesday claimed that the government is planning to launch a new series of Rs 1,000 notes to replace the old notes following demonetisation.
The Indian Express report said that the RBI has already started production of the new Rs 1,000 notes. The initial plan was to introduce the new Rs 1,000 note in January, but was delayed in order to speed up the printing of Rs 500 notes.
After demonetisation, new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes were issued with increased security features. The new notes were meant to replace Rs 15.44 lakh crore worth demonetised currency.

As of 27 January, notes in circulation comprising all denominations – including Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 – were Rs 9.92 lakh crore, RBI Deputy Governor R Gandhi said on 8 February.
An email sent to the RBI and finance ministry by The Indian Express for comments on the re-introduction of Rs 1,000 notes did not elicit any response.
