Meet the SHEROES - Suchita Vishnoi
She was nominated as the 'Maharani of Marketing' in an online survey conducted by Paul Writer & Co. in 2012 and featured amongst the 'Best Brand Managers of India' by VAR India in 2012. a thorough Marketing professional to the core, today we have in focus Suchita Vishnoi, the Director of Marketing for Trend Micro India and Saarc region.
Let's see what she has to share with us today,
As Director of Marketing at Trend Micro, what are the key challenges you face?
Marketing has evolved extraordinarily from the basic 4 Ps to Exchange, Experience, Everyplace and Engagement & Evangelism respectively. Today marketing emphasizes on creating an idea, experiencing the customers’ journey, calculating the value of your customer and bringing passion to your brand through engagement. While matching this dynamic external environment, internally, Marketing needs to constantly align to the sales objectives which sometimes becomes a challenge and being able to measure ROI on every dollar being spent is a key issue all marketers face today.
How and why did you choose a career in Marketing?
I have always been an extrovert and expressive about what I feel and prefer to do and hence marketing seemed to be the natural option. It allows me to use both my creative & analytical abilities.
I started as a marketing professional and got exposure in dealing with direct marketing agencies that were handling execution programs for IT giants like Intel, Wipro, and Dell etc. Having completed my MBA (marketing) from Lucknow University in 1998, I kept upgrading my academic background from time to time including a certificate course in Competitive Marketing Strategy from IIM Bangalore in 2008 and attended a special workshop on Reinventing Marketing for CMOs at ISB in 2012 to hone her skills. I believe my 15 years of experience has enabled me with deep understanding of Marketing processes, ROI & Revenue driven execution.
What do you feel women employees should focus on to improve their value at the workplace?
I believe Women must be treated at par with their male counterparts at work. It is not that I am a woman so I believe in the notion but it is really true that the commitment levels of women are extremely high. The only way to prove them and improve your value is to let your work speak for you!
What are your short-term professional / business plans?
Well, focusing on my growth in the marketing sector in line with the constant transformation, I foresee organic growth in future and look forward to getting recognition in the industry with due course of time.
Any words of advice for Sheroes out there?
We are sensitive as a gender and that is required to be a good leader, to be able to play the role of a mentor when leading large teams, the ability to nurture & so on. In all these circumstances I believe women have better ability to deal with the work pressures. Women come with an innate ability to balance the heart & mind that helps them take better decisions at workplace. Am sure with the use of technology & a planned schedule, women can achieve a lot more in a day giving them better work-life balance.
