World is a better place to live when we take steps to make it better.

Each of us possess certain unique qualities, talent and ideas which can only be tapped with the help of entrepreneurship. Who is an entrepreneur? Not just a businessman/woman. They are visionaries out to effect change to the world. The spirit of entrepreneurship lies in the greater good of the society, not just a profit and loss statement. One such organisation is encouraging students to improve the world through entrepreneurial actions.

Enactus Deshbandhu, a part of Enactus India, are a community of students committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world.

Project Treya is one such quest in collaboration with Stop India;  they’ve embarked upon that aims to alleviate the bottlenecks faced by the women survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, emotional abuse and exploitation and empowers them to lead a sustainable, dignified life.

Stop India envisions to eradicate human trafficking and all types of violent acts perpetrated against children and women. STOP also aims to create self reliance and self sustainability through awareness, income generation and mobilization programmes in communities dominated by violence and abuse where women and children happen to be at the receiving end.

We have here *Priya’s story who fought her way out of an abusive marriage and gave voice to the entrepreneur in her.

Born to parents who worked in a modest grocery store, Priya* has 2 elder sisters and one younger brother. Hailing from a low-income family, resources were always limited and having 3 daughters, the parents were constantly worried about their future. Priya was married off in 2015, arranged by her parents. Little did they know that she had been wedded to an alcoholic husband who had an illegitimate affair with his brother’s wife.

Every day starting from the date of her marriage Priya was regularly assaulted both physically and mentally. When things reached a saturation point, Priya decided she has had enough. She left her husband and moved in with her family. Although, they were devastated, Priya’s family was supportive and had reached out to STOP for assistance. STOP assisted Priya in her journey to fight for her divorce.

When Priya finally won the legal battle and she decided to channelize her passion and interests into what she enjoys the most- cooking and baking, an interest she discovered while she was trained by STOP through Youth Career Initiative where she was placed at Westin Hotel, Gurgaon for a brief period of six months. Priya is now an active member under Enactus Deshbandhu’s Project Treya.
