Cop Who Was Fat-shamed By Shobhaa De Undergoes Tests in Mumbai
Daulatram Jogawat, the inspector that columnist Shobhaa De poked fun at via Twitter, is currently undergoing a series of medical tests at a hospital in Mumbai.
Doctors are working to see whether Jogawat, an inspector with the Madhya Pradesh police, requires bariatric surgery, a statement said.
"My team and I will ensure that the best medical treatment is given to him and hope that he should be on the road to recovery very soon," Dr Lakdawala said.
Last week, the socialite had tweeted a photo of Jogawat during the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls.
De was chastised and trolled for the tweet. Jogawat had slammed De, and had revealed that his obesity was a result of hormonal disorder.
“I am hurt with Shobhaa De’s tweet poking fun at me. I have put on weight due to hormonal disorder following my gall bladder operation in 1993,” Inspector Jogewat, who weighs around 180 kg had told PTI.
Following the controversy over De's tweet, several hospitals had offered free treatment to the inspector.
On hearing about his condition, Dr Lakdawala reached out to him and offered to help by treating him. Dr Lakdawala tweeted:
