Believe and #TakeCharge

Two years back it wasn’t an easy decision to opt out of my college placements.  It isn’t the accepted norm and invited labels like lost, reckless, aimless and impulsive. It was hard to answer questions from the college professors and parents. After 4 years of gruesome engineering college I had no idea of what I wanted to do but a clear one of what I didn’t want.

Advice was pouring in from all directions, I didn’t want to go wrong with something as serious as my career. So I decided to ignore it all and #TakeCharge myself. I wanted a taste of the real world, the scary big bad world everyone talks about. I did what I believed was the best – take up an opportunity with a start-up, experiment and figure out life.

I didn’t know if I was right or wrong, all I knew I wouldn’t be doing what I didn’t fit into. I let things unravel, kept dreaming and doing what I enjoyed. Life is too short to waste on things you don’t want to do, so why trouble yourself?

There is one thing that has always driven me – belief. Belief in what I do and the purpose of doing it. I have obviously doubted myself more than a million times, have feared being proven wrong, we are all mere mortals. But the belief takes over everything, often reminding I am in-charge of what I do and solely responsible for my career. People try to dissuade me from this belief, but they are ‘people’, I have the reins are in my hands and I will move in the chosen path.

Two years on, and I don’t regret my decision, I still have no idea what direction I’m in, but I love the journey. All I have learnt is - to keep dreaming, keep believing and #TakeCharge.
