Back To Work After A Break? Highlight Your Skills And Be Confident
I am a small-town girl from Allahabad. I have an excellent academic record and went on to earn a PhD, and am a proud mother of two. I have 13 years of experience in marketing, coordination and administration, and have had the privilege of working in various sectors ranging from publications to MNCs in the service industry and outdoor media-exhibitions.
For the past three years, I have been working from home in collaboration with a Dubai-based company, handling their international exhibitions. However, I am now going back to full-time work after a gap of five years.
My SHEROES story started with attending the Delhi Bootcamp #takecharge. Though I was one of the earilest members of SHEROES, and remember switching over from Fleximoms, I was yet to utilise the platform as I should have. Though I had applied to various offers on SHEROES.in I, had not projected my skills well, and just forwarded the typical curriculum vitae. I must mention that I did get a work from home offer posted by Akosha.in on SHEROES.in, and did work with them for six months.
Meeting Team SHEROES was a great experience and my session with Sairee Chahal actually enlightened me on how to reinvent my skills and represent myself and to “take charge”. I did exactly that, and here I am, coming back from my first day of office. I am so happy to be back in a mainstream career.
My message for other women going to work after a break is: Never lose confidence, and always believe that you can do it. Project your skills, highlight them separately irrespective of what is written in your CV. Always keep yourself updated on things around you.
