The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) expelled two of its members on Wednesday for allegedly beating up students during the protest march that began outside Delhi’s Ramjas College on 22 February. The student body also asked police to take stern action against the expelled members.

In a statement, the group’s national media convener Saket Bahuguna said:

Some reports stated that the two expelled members, Prashant Mishra and Vinayak Sharma, who are both Delhi University students were arrested.

Prashant and Vinayak have been accused of beating up JNU student and AISA member Aman Sinha and two others near the Patel Chest in North Campus.

The ABVP has also filed an FIR against people who issued rape threats to Lady Shri Ram College student Gurmehar Kaur, who had launched a social media campaign against the ABVP violence during the Rajas College protest.

Kaur was trolled viciously and faced rape threats online over her anti-ABVP stance, following which she formally distanced herself from the protest.

The university has witnessed a heated weak after ABVP members forced the cancellation of a seminar in which JNU student Umar Khalid was to participate.
