Taken a break from work? Busy with your little one at the moment? Is your sabbatical making you blue?
It’s common for women to experience a sense of resentment and frustration when on a sabbatical. This is especially higher among career driven women who are used to a certain work schedule and work environment. A sabbatical is a temporary phase away from one's working life. It helps to make the most of it during this period. Use these simpl tricks to overcome your blues!

1. Accept

The first step to overcome the negativity is not to ignore it – accept that you do feel miserable at times. It's okay. Its normal. Once you accept it, it’s all the more easier to find effective solutions to get over it.

2. Discover a pastime

Everybody has a hobby or a secret wish. But with time, you tend to get entangled in the rat race. Find something that you like doing and spend time on this one hobby or passion. It will help you focus on something else besides the fact that you are on a career break.

3. Remember the motive

When you decided to go on the sabbatical, you had some critical obligations. So, when you are now honouring your responsibilities, do not forget the precarious situation of your life that made you take a break. It would help you keep grounded.

4. Stay focussed and explore

Prepare a timeline and fix a date by which you plan to return to work. Don’t lose yourself to the temporary distractions. At the very onset you may want to be engaged part-time. So, explore the company and job profiles in your free time. It is all a matter of timing and choosing priorities.

5. Network

Keep in touch with your professional circle. Network with other professionals who have taken a break or who are on a break just like you. Spend some time networking with professionals in your field of work too, just to stay abreast of industry news.
