Why You Are Not Hearing Back From Recruiters
Answering queries on SHEROES helpline on one hand has opened up a new world of experience for me. And on the other hand has taught me how to deal with difficult questions. Obviously most queries are related to career guidance but some demand psychological support along with it. Everyone wants the best for themselves. From such expectations arise various questions like: Why don’t I get suitable jobs? or Why am I getting paid so less? Why doesn’t my location match?
One of the most common question on helpline is: Why do recruiters not call back? Even after having huge experience, no recruiter has called me yet? Does this really works or it’s just another trap of making endless applications.
To answer this frequently asked question, I am going to list certain common things that may lead to non selection of your Resume, you SHEROES profile
1. Incomplete Profile - Users don’t fill up their entire career profile. We come across a lot of empty profiles. A common habit of some users is to directly sign up and start applying. Recruiter wants to know your skills, experience, projects, etc. The SHEROES tech has made an inclusive profile format, which helps recruiters in choosing the right candidates. Filling the profile completely will help you getting that phone call.
2. Grammatical Errors, Incorrect English and Contradictory Information : Common example: I was born in 2000 and have completed Masters. Such profiles are a big goof. These are your basic details. Messing them up would lead to missing out on job opportunities.
3. Unmatched Profile: It’s important to match your skills with the job you are applying for. For eg- When applying for a basic admin job, we end up thinking, yes this can be done. I can apply for it. But it's hard for the recruiter to know the same. If you are applying for a job that does not match your set of skills or your profile does not mention any such experience, it is hard for the recruiter to select your profile.
4. Missing keywords: There are more than 7 lakh women registered on SHEROES, so imagine the number of applications recruiters receive. For each particular opening there are keywords like teaching, blogging, accounts, recruitment. Recruiters use such keywords to shortlist profiles. Missing keyword of your field could reduce the chances of receiving that call.
5. Very Brief Profile: The way you fill your SHEROES profile shows your will for working. If you fill it briefly, by filling only compulsory fields, it gives an impression of your non-interest in hard work. Your profile information and details set up the first impression with the recruiter. So filling up that “info” column about yourself could land you get opportunities.
Here are some ways to improve your chances of getting selected:
1. Write legit stuff about yourself, education, experience, interests, skills, etc in profile as much as you can, of course relevant.
2. Don’t be too impatient and start blindly applying for every job that may be irrelevant to your profile. Apply only to the matching ones. Have a game plan.
3. Highlight your assets.
4. Talk more about your projects rather than skills and duties. Its helps the recruiter to see the kind of work you have done.
5. Make sure to get your e-mail verified as that is the only way you will receive confirmation of your application.
6. Include Keywords, be persistent, don’t lose hope and keep applying.
