#VoicesOfCommunity brings you the voice of Rashika Jindal, founder at Saffron Craft. India is blessed with craft legacy that is indeed exceptional in the world. Saffron Craft works directly with manufacturer and artisan for handicraft as well jute made products.  Saffron Craft is the first e-commerce platform with a feature called the “Virtual Trial Room”. The creation of “Virtual Trial Room” lets you visualise a product virtually before you buy. That’s one cool business move. Read on to know more about Rashika’s venture.

“The major issue facing e-commerce market is ‘returns.’ The rate of returns is very high and it could be any reason like either size problem, customer does not like the product etc. To address this loophole, we are creating a Virtual Trial Room (VTR) where customers can virtually visualize themselves in a particular outfit. The VTR will give them the idea and help them in their dress selection according to their body type, face cut, etc. They can combine their shoes, handbags or accessories like scarf or jewelry, accordingly. I see a big opportunity for my business model as I am in e-Commerce which is booming. The Virtual Trial Room (VTR) in which a person can virtually visualize themselves in any outfit will surely be rocking.”

“We have noticed, every individual is different and very few people can visualize or imagine them in a particular dress. Ordering is half the battle won, but putting it on and seeing the end results is the litmus test. So our software will help them in selecting the right outfit and, also help vendors to reduce the return rate. This will also aid in increasing margin for the sellers.”

“During my childhood I thought of myself as an ambitious working women. I want to retain that independence in life and thought. My schooling As i wanted to become a doctor, I sat for scores of medical entrances. But, god had different plans for me and gradually I changed my path and entered into Public relations and advertising.I have an experience of over a decade in the PR industry. After my maternity, it was very challenging to manage the corporate life with small kids. I contemplated going back to work, but was scared that it will be difficult to manage. My husband, who’s the pillar of my strength, had suggested me to start something of my own--which I wanted to do during corporate life also. Thus our journey with Saffron Craft began. In terms of hurdles, one major concern was, having worked and gained experience in a totally different industry, I couldn’t grasp the dynamics of the ecommerce market. Initially we had faced many hurdles but during the course of time, we learnt from our mistakes.”

“As far as women professionals in India are concerned, I can see the change in people’s thinking. Back then, when I was in school, the norm was, girls either prefered the teaching job or any government job. But, now you can see things are changing, that too for good, women are all over and in every industry. More and more women are coming out and working. I really encourage women professionals and also believe they should be independent in every way. I will try to support more and more women in my entrepreneurial journey.”
