They often say that technology is not a girl's cup of tea. However, in today's world, the phrase holds no meaning anymore. Women today use technology in every sphere of life. According to a survey, it was women who have expressed more interest in the purchase of tablets, smartphones, laptops than men. It has been studied that women are highly interested in knowing about latest gadgets and technology updates too.
The information technology industry has seen a boom in the involvement of women employees and their commendable interest, contribution and performance has not gone unoticed. Women are more likely to be engaged in digital media activities like browsing the internet, watching movies online, downloading and uploading music and pictures to their social media accounts, etc.
Women today are also seen showing more interest in games as compared to previous years. Facebook games have seen more women users and it can be considered to be the same case when comparing usage of gaming consoles like Xbox 360 and PlayStation III. Women are said to be good communicators. Technology and the internet have proved to be an extension of this quality towards online entertainment.
In a recent survey, it has been found that startups which are successful have more women in senior positions. An International foundation studied that women who have led hi-tech startups achieved 35% higher return on investment, and when the venture is backed, they generated 12% more revenue than the tech companies owned by men.
A successful woman wants another woman to succeed and tries to help as much as possible. A successful working woman is one who has a robust communication style, organizational skills, open and clear interactions, inclusiveness, coaching and adaptability.
Women tend to ask more questions, only because they want to fully understand the task of the project given to her better before jumping in and rushing to get the things done. This comes in handy in the world of technology. Surveys now say that women are rapidly entering the technological world, leaving an impressive mark behind.
