Tasha From #OITNB: “Don’t Compare Yourself To Anyone, Just Be A Better You”

The social media is inundated with posts slamming, body-shaming, so how different could this one be, right?

Well, Orange Is The New Black’s Danielle Brooks aka ‘Tasha’, shared a video on her instagram page, describing the moment when her confidence went for a beating and self-doubt creeped in.

Are you health conscious or body conscious? The answer to this will decide your stand toward body shaming. Being a health conscious person myself, I don’t aim for unachievable body measurements.

But, there are times when I'm browsing through channels and my eyes get fixated on Katrina’s slender abs, swooning to the beats of Kala Chashma. I do wish, just for a fraction of a second, “What if I could get those washboard abs?” We all think about it, once in awhile, no matter how secure we are.

Danielle faced a similar dilemma, she was working out in a gym with her shirt off, which she says, usually makes her feel good. Just then, another woman walked in who also had her shirt off. Danielle became self-conscious about her body. She was debating with herself, whether to put back her shirt or not.

This particular post mentioning Danielle’s useful advice about body positivity on Women'sHealth, is just what you need to take up physical exercises without the baggage of looking perfect for others.

After the initial struggle, she finally shrugged off her insecurity and reconciled with herself. She realised that you’re not supposed to feel better against others. On the contrary, she must feel better than her previous self. Be a better version of you!

That’s one inspiring thought. So pull up your socks and head back to gym or wherever you want to workout and, feel good about yourself.
