Reemma Dalal: Bringing People Together Is Good Business

Reemma Dalal is the co-founder of Mix and Mingle, a fresh and unique matchmaking platform. Through her platform, she brings together singles of various age groups, helping them expand their social network and find the perfect partner.  She strongly believes that patience and perseverance are the keys to succeed and strengthen your business enterprise. Let us hear her story in her own words:

“My business partner Jemma and I were friends before we started the Mix and Mingle initiative. We often attended various networking events together but found it difficult to meet like-minded people. Moreover, new acquaintances wouldn’t necessarily mean new friendships. Also, most attendees at these events were in their 20’s and very few in their 30’s or above. So we decided to do solve this problem by organising our first event in June 2013 for the 35-50 age groups.”

What makes Mix and Mingle unique is that events are organized for various age groups: 25-35 years, 35-50 years, and above. The age group 35-50 years or above are often overlooked by many platforms. To ensure an enjoyable evening, all guests are screened prior to attending the event. The screening process involves scrutinising the registration form and a brief telephonic interview.

Attending an all-singles event and meeting strangers can make one feel nervous or awkward. To overcome this, a series of ice-breaking sessions are conducted, beginning with introductions and fun activities. Sometimes, theme-based events are organized such as wine tasting or mixology to help people make new connections as well as learn something new.

Says Reemma, “Mix and Mingle is our baby and we are proud to see our company grow. Starting with a single event, it slowly increased to two events per month. Also, we started a matchmaking service for people who found it challenging to attend our events. A lot of couples have met through our events and are happily married. Many people who attended our events regularly became good friends. It feels great when we succeed in bringing people together. For the past three years, we have focussed on Mumbai but we would like to plan our events in cities like Delhi, Pune and Bangalore too.”

As Reemma’s success shows, one can find opportunities everywhere and also bring smiles to others’ faces.
