A civilian identified as Amir Nazir died after clashes broke out between villagers and security forces in Awantipora, even as the encounter proceeded, reports said. Another civilian was injured in the leg.

A second terrorist who was killed in the encounter has been indentified as LeT militant Mohd Shafi Shergujari.
A top Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist who has been identified as Jahangir Gani was killed in the Pulwama encouter. Further details are still awaited.
Around three terrorists are still holed up in the Padgampora area.
Authorities have suspended train services from Banihal to Srinagar as one of the railway stations is near the Pulwama encounter site.
Security forces suspected presence of 4-5 terrorists in Pulwama district’s Padgampora area, on Thursday.
The encounter is still being carried on and gunshots have been heard during the encounter.
Earlier on 24 January, terrorists attacked police and a CRPF patrolling party. They reportedly opened fired and tossed grenades at the police party, injuring one policeman.
