“Ooh, aah, ouch”, “Aaah se leke aaha tak”… do these popular advertisement taglines remind you of the concerned ailment? Yes, you got it right! Backache.
Why backache occurs?
The spinal cord is a super important part of our body. It is made up of small bones fitted into each other, which are supported by muscles and have nerve endings. Any kind of muscle imbalance in this region can lead to backache. Most backaches occur due to incorrect posture and sitting in the same position for long periods, the way we do at our workplace.
Workplace and Posture Defects
You must have seen (as I have) that our body tries to slip into a seemingly comfortable position at the first instance. Colleagues all around you will be slouching on their chairs or peering into their laptops with their necks bent like that of a dinosaur. Then there will be some who would constantly be rocking their chairs. Still others would be sitting having twisted and turned their bodies.
All of these are incorrect!
1 simple tip to follow for correct posture
Eyes perpendicular to the monitor and arms at 90 degree bend. This is the simple idea to keep in mind to have the right posture and save yourself from pain and injuries in the future.
Look at the video below to see how you can improve your posture at the workplace.
Keeping the laptop/computer at the right height and resting your feet on the floor are important beginnings. The posture at 1:03 of the video is a great one.
What comes at 1:32 is also important and it also helps us stay pain-free.
I am sure none of us wants this annoying backache to become a part of our lives. This one simple posture correction can really make all the difference. Try it out! After all, a healthy today leads to a healthy tomorrow.
