It’s that time of the year again when you are busy making resolutions. And, promising others (and more to yourself) that this time you’re gonna nail it.
New year resolutions have earned a bad reputation for being pretentious and a fad imported from the west.
But millennials are increasingly getting into this habit of making and breaking new year resolutions. The idea is to form a new habit to become a better version of an old you.
So without further ado, we bring you these tips to overcome laziness. Let’s not call them new year resolutions, if that puts you off. Make a promise to yourself, as you could connect with the emotions associated with the word ‘promise.’
The history of new year resolutions dates back to the Babylonian era.
Think Big, Start Small
Being ambitious is an amazing start, but staying on that path gets overwhelming. No sweat. Just stick to it and make progress on a daily basis, even if it seems insignificant.
Planning to adopt a healthy lifestyle? Go slow, don’t rush to the supermarket and, load your refrigerator with exotic foods and green veggies.
You absolutely won’t stick to that diet. Turn yourself slowly and steadily to healthier food options. Start with your breakfast and then bit-by-bit bring in healthier food items into your diet. You wouldn’t realise how effective this could turn out. After a period of time, you might end up surprising yourself. And become a staunch supporter of healthy lifestyle.
Stick To Your Promises
It’s not a resolution, it’s a promise you made to yourself. Imagine being ditched by someone who made a promise to you. I reckon, disappointment and the crushing feeling of been let down is experienced. Now put your ambitious self against your laidback self.
Isn’t that disappointing? Fulfilling your promises to yourself is as important. As mentioned above, start small but, stick to your small start.
Go Easy
Don’t abandon your habits or goals, just because you skipped it in between. This might sound contradictory to the above stated ‘stickler for promises’ point. But, due to xyz reason, if you couldn’t carry out your task, that doesn’t mean you have to scrap your promises.
Start from the point where you left and carry on with the awesomeness. You can’t give-up and expect drastic changes in your life.
