Naina’s Courageous Journey From A Human Traffic Victim To An Entrepreneur #ProjectTreya

“When Naina* was around 13 years old, her step father trafficked her on the pretext of taking to meet her aunt. Naina was kept in an apartment in Delhi where the living conditions were terrible. She was forced to practise prostitution. Once while travelling locally with two other residents of the same apartment, a fight amongst them broke out inside the auto-rickshaw. The conflict drew a lot of attention and the local police had to intervene. When it was discovered that she was not living with her family but in some obscure place where she was exploited regularly, the police referred her to the Child Welfare Committee. CWC approached STOP to take care of Naina. Naina received counselling, health and other services through STOP. At present, she is appearing for her 8th standard exams through NIOS, leading the catering vertical of Thousands Dreams and is an integral part of Project Treya (an Enactus Deshbandhu initiative)”

Enactus Deshbandhu, a part of Enactus India, are a community of students committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world.

Project Treya is one such quest in collaboration with Stop India;  they’ve embarked upon that aims to alleviate the bottlenecks faced by the women survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, emotional abuse and exploitation and empowers them to lead a sustainable, dignified life.

Stop India envisions to eradicate human trafficking and all types of violent acts perpetrated against children and women. STOP also aims to create self reliance and self sustainability through awareness, income generation and mobilization programmes in communities dominated by violence and abuse where women and children happen to be at the receiving end.

Naina’s story is one of a hope. Hope, that there are people and organisations out there to uplift and lend a supporting hand to the exploited and marginalised one’s.
