I saw your piece on #mumswithoutbabysitters story and it totally resonates with me and my experiences. You have got to do, what you have got to do - so either one can stop going out for work or even the rare meetings completely, or you can take charge like you mentioned in your piece. I take my son almost everywhere and have no babysitter and opted to not put him in day-care. 

Attaching a picture (picture above) from when I was leading Research on a contractual assignment with Interweave Consulting. My meeting was with the Founder, Nirmala of this Diversity Consulting firm and discussing a project ! The fact that I was encouraged to get him along, even though I was not a full-time employee. 
 

I dont think its about choosing between two options. It is about choosing both the options, and doing what it takes to balance them. And stop apologizing or feeling embarrassed if you do have to take your child to work or a meeting. Your involvement as a mother is not a barometer of your work commitment or ambition.
