Last week, Swati Chitalkar posted a picture of herself and her son on Facebook. Well, everyone does that, don’t they? But the picture she posted was unique, and it spread across the nation like wildfire. She had posted a picture of her son who had fever and was lying on the floor of her office while drinking milk. The picture went viral, with more than 25,000 shares--with a strong message to the politicians sleeping in the Assembly/Parliament.
It was on 16th August that Swati’s son was unwell and cranky, and longed to be with his mother. The little boy who was at home with his father wanted his mother. As he was very cranky, his father called up Swati. Swati had already finished half the day at the office and had just a few hours left, with an urgent loan release; she could not leave. She requested her husband to drop their son at her office. Once in the office, she offered him milk and he slept on the floor behind her as she finished her work.
While her baby slept and she was busy doing her work, it occurred to her that people all over the world work with their babies by their side. And it was then that she got a picture clicked, for herself. But then, she went ahead and shared same picture on Facebook, and in her post, she targeted the politicians of the country. “The politicians take care of us like parents; then why are they not as responsible as parents.” She also stated, “My message isn't targeted at sleeping ministers in the assembly alone, but also at all those ministers who are sleeping and performing their duties. Please do your planning of the projects keeping in mind the people of our country”.
Each time Swati sees children sleeping on the footpath or begging, her heart goes out to them. She has a message for Prime Minister Narendra Modi also. She addresses him as the mother of the country and says, “Although these kids on the streets did not vote for you, you are their caretaker, just like I am the mother of my kid and I am doing my best to keep him happy.”
Swati, who has won a million hearts of working mothers, was very much surprised with the response she got when she posted her picture with the tags like superwoman. But she feels that the real superwomen are those who send their family to the borders, so that they can take care of the country.
This is really some strong message from Swati to the ministers, and its time they take their responsibilities seriously.
