Moe’s BNB Begs A Visit - A Boarding House Home Stay For Animals

Moresha Benjamin is the person behind Moe's Bed & Biscuits, a loving home away from home for your pets, when your commitments take you away from them. She is a dog therapist, trainer and pet sitter who also runs a pet homestay from her house.

Moe, as she is lovingly called, started this home for pets after the loss of her parents. She felt that the “insurmountable grief that surrounded me guided me to seek solace by taking care of these four-legged beings. They helped me overcome my grief, which does come back in spurts but I know now how to handle it better.”

This was not her career initially. She says, “I come from a decade old journalism background. I knew I wanted to be a journalist since I was in the 6th grade but didn't ever imagine that I would become a canine trainer and behaviourist and run my own pet, home boarding initiative.”

Moresha’s shares her thoughts on whether it is tough to care for pets. She says, “It's not tough as much as it is challenging. All pets are different. All have their behavioural quirks. Some are a breeze to take care of, while some require a lot of effort due to lack of proper training.”

Space constraint is a big issue. I don't want to start a kennel. I want to keep it as a home stay but if I have to even slightly scale up the numbers, I will require a bigger space. Rent prices here in Mumbai are exorbitant, to say the least. Moreover, societies that are pet-friendly or pro-pets are very few and far between, so to get a good place is a challenge. Thankfully, my society and landlords are a blessing. They reached out to me regarding their dog's health as well.”

She is driven and committed to this venture and the reward is all the love from her pet guests and their owners. She adds, “Clients call up to say thanks, message me, send me pictures of their pets, and write reviews on my Facebook page. It's absolutely gratifying as some even distribute my business cards in their neighbourhood; this is what makes me believe in this and strive every day to make it better.”

“After travelling as a passion, this is something that makes my life worth it,” says Moresha who believes in following her heart.
