Meet the SHEROES at Styleogram

“We want Styleogram to become the market leader in quality fashion content,” says Mallika Singhania, of Styleogram.

Styleogram is a platform that endeavours to unclutter the information overload in the fashion sector. Mallika and Shruti Rathi the co-founders of Stylegram tell us how the idea for this platform came about and what differentiates their venture.

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?

Mallika: I completed my bachelors from Northwestern University, and my Masters from LSE. Shruti and I wrote a couple of shopping guides together. I also wrote 6 more city-centric guides for Times of India, as well as had a column with DNA for 4 years. I hosted a slot on fashion for CNBC Awaaz, and Zoom. After this, I started an e-commerce venture, www.indianhanger.com, and sold it in June last year.

Shruti: I completed my bachelors in Digital Business and E-Commerce from the University of Nottingham. Post which i came to India and co-authored a couple of city-centric fashion guides that got published. I then joined the Femina editorial team where I headed the Beauty portfolio. After which I moved to Delhi where I started a fashion and lifestyle store which now is running successfully. My latest venture is Styleogram.

How did the idea of Styleogram come about?

Mallika: When I was working with indianhanger.com, I realised there was a dearth of quality content fashion websites. Also, very few websites covered International fashion along with Indian fashion. E-commerce is booming in such a big way, and I felt that there were content websites needed to support the e-commerce ventures in driving sales.

Shruti: The fashion, writing and technology have always excited me and when Mallika discussed the idea of Styleogram with me it was a Eureka moment.  Not only did it tie up with my interests it also made a viable business plan as there was a gaping gap for an online fashion platform in India.

Can you tell us about you other ventures?

Mallika: I launched indianhanger.com about 3 years ago. It is an e-commerce venture featuring Indian designer wear for Indian and NRI audiences.

Shruti: Apart from our fashion guides and House of Sankalan, my fashion store in Delhi. I have also created a successful luxury leather home accessory brand called Firefly Home.

What differentiates your Fashion Blog Styleogram?

Mallika: We have a good pulse on fashion, and what our audience wants, and our design truly makes us stand out.

Shruti: Currently in India there is no comprehensive fashion platform like Styleogram that covers Indian and global fashion events with an honest voice. We unclutter the information overload on the Internet by giving it relevance to the Indian viewer who is craving for high-quality fashion content. Our fashion forecast, trend reports and covers global fashion along with cutting edge designs and graphics to change the users experience of fashion.

What is most important according to you, in "entrepreneurship"?

Mallika: Not giving up. Over-coming obstacles. And most importantly, enjoying what you do.

Shruti: Having a vision and working backwards is the only way to success.

What future plans do you have for Styleogram and yourselves professionally?

Mallika: We want Styleogram to become the market leader in quality fashion content.

Shruti: We are currently exploring the option of integrating e-commerce in Styleogram. Next we would expand our content repertoire to lifestyle, fitness and home decor.

Could you leave our readers with a few thoughts?

Mallika: Find a purpose in your life, and never stop trying to fulfill it.

Shruti: If you really want something, the entire universe conspires to get it for you - Paulo Coelho
