What line of work are you in?
I am in the change-making business as a life coach and founder of Inner Peace Warriors. As shown in the company name, it indicates that committing to a journey towards inner peace is crucial. You must be the change you want to see in your world – at an individual, family, or executive level. When you are at peace with your actions, beliefs and relationships then your happiness and sense of balance radiates and creates a ripple effect. I work globally with activists, teachers, international development, and social workers or any person who shares a sense of determination in making the world a better place by unleashing their greatness and connecting deeply with the people they serve. To do that, we clear out self-limiting and expired patterns and fears, unravel false beliefs, reconnect to your authentic self and discover your life’s purpose. This 3-4 month support program sets the stage for making decisions that are aligned with your whole self and makes you more effective in your work, relationships and life.

How did the inspiration to be part of this field come about?
I had a difficult childhood. I experienced poverty, family addiction, domestic violence and watched a lot of hardship in the process. I always thought, ‘wow, life shouldn’t be like this!” However, my born gift and superpower is empathy. I remember feeling in tune with how others felt as early as 2 years old. When they cried, I cried. I hated seeing people suffer. I know without a doubt, that I choose my family because my of life’s purpose to help others become empowered to their greatest potential.

I have my own unique approach to coaching that infuses evidence based cognitive strategies with ancient practices that date over 2500 years old. I’m an alchemist digging into and mixing up 10 years of tools learned and inspired from a Masters in Clinical Social Work and training in Neuroscience, Neurolinguistic Programming, Buddhism, Mindfulness, Psychology, and Pranic Healing. I’ve been a Director at a state wide nonprofit, a therapist, a teacher and now a coach.

What are the top three beliefs you rely on in day to day business and personal life?
The only thing guaranteed in life is impermanence – everything must change.

But we resist it and it causes us suffering. Change-work is necessary to evolve. There is a lot riding under the surface that we are unconscious to, but it can be dug out with awareness and motivation and transformed into something more empowering and aligned with reality. This has to be done in a way that is compassionate, forgiving and healing. Being harsh or unrealistic creates more inner conflict.

We are interconnected in this world. You are never alone. Really! This also means that outcomes of decisions are not solely our own, they are interdependent on other people, situations, events occurring at any given time. We can never really know how any decision will turn out. This often keeps us stuck, afraid to move forward. Therefore, we either make decisions based on fear or faith. This creates ripple effects on the outcome. I choose faith and help my clients do the same. You can only be responsible for yourself, everything else is out of your control.

We have a right to be unique and authentic. You are a unique and perfect. Expressing your truth and living your purpose is authenticity. It is your inner and outer world aligning for the greatest benefit of you. Sometimes we find ourselves living the expectations of others or a societal norm. It’s important to sniff that out and discover how to live the best ‘you’ that you can. When we live any other way, we are in conflict with ourselves and therefore with the Universe and our relationships. The moment you begin to live authentically, others around you will be inspired to do the same. Those that are not, have their own story to sort out.

What kind of challenges do you often need to overcome in this line of work?
I believe the challenges that I face in this line of work are a direct reflection of my own inner work that is needed. Everything else is out of my control (as mentioned above). I take on the responsibility for continuous growth, consciousness and vulnerability. I think every great person and company should do this! Why would someone want to be coached by someone who doesn’t do the work herself? The challenges I face are having the courage and time to keep going back for more inner transformation. It’s not always easy. For example, I hate marketing myself. It’s easy for me to promote a company or cause or person but when it comes to myself, it feels egotistic. It also sets you up for being rejected. So I remind myself that my purpose is to help others so they must hear about how I can do that. Also, cheesy marketing and fluff is avoided. I’m real, authentic and if that turns away some clients, great (rejection fear solved!)! It is also very smart in business to have a specific niche in your work and to have an ideal client in mind, I want to work with people who resonate with my words and my energy. I will refer clients on that I don’t feel I can work with effectively – I’m invested as much as you are.

What according to you does it take to be a successful woman entrepreneur?
Build a tribe. We are social creatures and we need emotional support. As entrepreneurs, especially women, we are constantly competing and thinking of growth and survival. It can be exhausting. We often also have children and are usually multi-passionate (millions of creative ideas – all-the-time!). Having a support network of women who get you and can call out your bullshi* (self limitation, false beliefs), help you narrow down your ideas and hold your hand when you don’t want to be the powerful woman and just want to cry will keep you going. Create a tribe with women who are more powerful than you! Lose your intimidation and learn to feel equal. Modeling this will create the same sense of empowerment. At some point, things will feel like they are crashing or plateauing; this is usually right before things move forward. Your tribe of women who have been through this will help you immensely. The last gift of tribal support is that we must give to get. So giving to others will return the gift. Keep going ladies, we are changing the world!
