Tell us about yourself and your roots?
I am Mrs.Mariam Khan also known as Meera Subramaniam. I was born and brought up in Bangalore. I have had wonderful memories in my past career. I studied in Mount Carmel College. During my final year I got an opportunity to work in HOTEL ASHOKA (5 STAR THEN) (now known as Lalith Ashok, in PR - Public Relations). This was when I had a great opportunity to meet delegates during the SAARC SUMMIT. I even had the opportunity to meet, rather shook hands with late Shri.Rajeev Gandhi at Windsor Manor. It was a Privilege.
After having worked for 2 and a half years. I worked as a manager at Innovations, commercial Street,Bangalore.
Then life took another turn, I got married to the man of my choice. It was difficult though as I was a PALGHAT BRAHMIN IYER and my husband a KHAN. Muslim. We are blessed with 2 children - a boy and a girl.
I want to tell people that inter caste marriage is wonderful. We exchange our culture. We have no problem with Religion. As I believe Relegion is between God and oneself. So lock it when you leave home and be Human.

What is your source of inspiration and what would you say to women on their career journeys?
My Parents are my inspiration. My father was an industrialist. He started his own medicine factory and we were manufacturing Antibiotics - Indian Remedies Pvt Ltd. I want to tell the women out there to be 'sure of yourself,be honest, be confident, read books.'
