Tell us about yourself and your roots?
I was born in Pune and lived in various parts of the country as my father was an officer with the Indian Navy. Extremely fortunate to have had a defence upbringing. A kind of upbringing that teaches values and valour like no other.
I married my college buddy Bala who opened a whole new world of opprutnites for me. We have a little tornado named Avantika.
What does your current role entail?
Thanks to SHEROES.in, I started working as a Freelance Recruiter. I work from home.
Share with us a little bit about your career and education journey and the highlights of it.
By qualification I am an MBA in marketing but by experience and aptitude I am an HR person. I started my career with Shoppers Stop and worked on the shop floor for a year. That was one of the most rewarding stages of my career. Working on the floor gave me lessons that no B school can. I've worked with Dhanlaxmi Bank and Fabindia post my tenure with Shoppers Stop. Have received the “ Heart of HR “ award for going above and beyond the call of duty. Thruout school and college I have been involved with student welfare activities and have held positions of leadership.
What is your source of inspiration and what would you say to women on their career journeys?
My parents have always been my biggest source of inspiration. Professionally and personally they both have managed their lives with grace, dignity and honesty. I hope to aswell.
To all my fellow buddies getting back to work, find that one reason to get back….that one biggg reason to get back...and then you will be running towards the finish line.
Do you have a SHEROES Story?
As I sat contemplating getting back to work I couldn't help but notice my little daughter playing around me. While I badly wanted to work I also wanted to pick my daughter up from school and listen to all her school stories. And I didnt want to compromise.
Thanks to my husband who Introduced me to the world of Twitter, I discovered SHEROES. Just what I needed. An opportunity without compromising on my time with my daughter. Within two weeks of creating an online presence, I received my first opportunity.
