What comes to your mind when I say the word, coder? You probably might have thought of a nerdy looking, bespectacled ‘guy,’ wearing shorts with earphones plugged in. His sole purpose is to get that one life-altering idea which will probably break the world of technology.
The greatest programmers have contributed to the the world of computers in a significant manner. Bill Gates and his ilk have fascinated us and frankly it seems like an elite job, which needs an unwavering belief in changing the world with the help of technology.
Interestingly that is not the case. You don’t have to be maddeningly committed to the idea of being a coder. Given the IT industry's projected growth and the increasing accessibility of training programs, coding is poised to be a major supplier of jobs for the middle class.
The next big job to hijack the blue-collar category is that of a coder. The advancement in technology has led to loss of manual jobs. Thereby increasing our dependency on computers. There is also a significant rise in productivity after switching to automated systems. A factory in China just saw a 250 percent increase in production after replacing 90 percent of its workforce with automated systems.
Skilled based jobs like coding helps in addressing the glitches that hamper their smooth functioning. Courses on coding shall be introduced in schools at high-school level and hand out short-term courses for carrying out basic programming. These coders won’t necessarily churn out complex algorithms, but will be qualified enough to fix the bugs and solve the basic glitches.
Coding is posed to open employment opportunities for the middle class. Programming is the next big blue-collar job. A highly specialized, skill based job, which can be acquired by learning.
